This blog will be a quick update on what has been going on with me over the past two weeks. For starters my food has changed up a bit. As you may know if you do meal prep, you may begin to lose interest in some of the foods you eat on a regular basis. For many this includes baked or grilled chicken breast, fish, broccoli and so forth (well that's what it was for me). We have begun to experiment more with our meal prep. I cooked mashed cauliflower, eggplant Parmesan, creamy garlic chicken thighs, low-fat creamed spinach and a few other things. Our snacks have changed a little as well. We added some different fruit: tangerines, plums, and a different apple. Every now and again I crave asparagus or brussel sprouts randomly, but other than that, our food has been pretty consistent. We find new recipes we'd like to try out make our grocery list and shop every week for what we don't have in our home already. For anyone considering meal prep it isn't difficult, it is a little intimidating at first, but if you are into following list and are pretty organized it will be a breeze. If not, it's still simple you just have to follow your list when grocery shopping. It really takes the work out of figuring out whats for dinner every night because once you've prepared everything, it's already done for you. This is a good website for beginners, but this website was what got me hooked on the idea.
Workouts
We have been working out pretty consistently for three to four days a week (sometimes two), and we make it a point to get it in when we can. For example last weekend we went to get my car serviced (which they estimated would take between four to five hours), so we drove over to Mount Trashmore in Virginia Beach and walked the mountain trail which was about 1.2 miles. I like it so much better than the treadmill, the only thing is it doesn't track my calorie burn. We are still working on a consistent workout schedule. My husband knows I hate the gym, but for some reason he prefers it, so we are working on it. I've gotten to the point where I am not so intimidated, but it's just a little inconvenient the drive is about 15 minutes and I have to come home and change my clothes, but of all things I really just don't like going. I'd much rather do something in the privacy of my own home, outdoors, or in our neighborhood. Anywho! We usually go after work anywhere between 6:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. I like the late nights/early mornings because there's hardly anyone there!
Conception
The only update with us trying to conceive is that we have decided to not wait until May to start trying. I'm removing my birth control at the end of this month, so we that we can get the ball rolling. I really have come to grips with potentially not every have a baby, but if it happens I will be over-the-moon excited. I'm still not "keen" on the thought of fertility treatments even as a last resort, but we will continue to pray on that situation. I do have baby fever to the max right now, and it isn't getting any better with my friends becoming mothers and fathers. I get so excited for them, and then I end up wishing it was me and my hubs!
The Numbers Game
So...I have dropped a total of 5lbs. since two weeks ago. I miscalculated and though it was 7, but I hope to be pass the 10 lb. mark by my official weigh-in on the 23rd. I know this will be a challenge because I am attending two baby showers this month one on the 16th and one on the 23rd. Those days will challenge my willpower, but they are also cheat meal days, so they are accounted for in a way!
Social Media
I started a group on Facebook called "We Pledge Allegiance to Our Health" for ALL women who are on a health, fitness, or wellness journey and who are serious about wanted accountability and support. So far the ladies have been wonderful at posting and cheering each other on, but mostly they've been very candid about their journeys. If you are interested in joining, please send me a message. If you join please read the description to see what's required of group members.
'Til next time,
